Instrumentation/ Electronic Technician Duties.
Perform routine maintenance on all electronic equipment. This includes but is not limited to, All fracturing equipment-(Fraccats, Blenders, Pumpers, FCM, PCM, Labs Unit, Nitrogen )
All Coiled tubing equipment (CTX, CTP, Reels..etc). All Cement euipment (Twins, cement skids, mixers, pumpers) Installation of new electronic.
 
Type of equipment- Computers and periferials, DCU's, JABS, RPA boxes, Data aquisition systems, Flow meters, Densitometers, various sensors, (temp, pressure, rate, proximity, magnetic...etc). Generators. Radio equipment.( PA systems, headsets, 2-ways, truck radios,) Tripmaster systems, Driveright systems. UTLM, UTIM, COILcat, FRACcat. Wireless systems. Satelite systems and hardware controls.
 
At Schlumberger electronic technicians work hand and hand with the Heavy Duty Mechanics. Because of this I have learned alot about the mechanic side of things....Things like motors, transmissions, drive systems, Hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems...etc.
 
In 2006 I took a Mecha-tronic Course at the Schlumberger training center in Tulsa Oaklahoma, and graduated near the top of my class.

 
Sable Island operations weather technician duties:
 
Meteorology is the prime function. It is composed of the following components:
1. Upper air observations where radiosonde instruments are attached to balloons and are sent into the upper atmosphere.
2. Surface weather observations are performed for a number of hours in the morning.
3. Climatological measurments are performed daily.
4. Periodic scheduled maintenance of meteorological sensors and equipment.
 
The remainder of the scientific program is composed of a number of sampling and measurment programs. The focus is on long range transport of air pollutants, background pollution measurments, atmospheric composition studies, magnetic field measurments, seismic observations, and enviromental programs.
 
The other magor job component was general station operations. This included unloading freight from various aircrafts and ships, general labour, cleaning and assisting with maintenance...etc.
